Where? Malawi is a landlocked country located in East Africa. It lies below Tanzania and is bordered also by Zambia and Mozambique.
Who Can Adopt

Residency: In May 2009 the Malawi Supreme Court determined that an adoption may be granted to foreign adopting parents so long as the parents are not temporary visitors to Malawi and have a serious commitment or connection to Malawi.

Age of Adopting Parents: Parents must be at least 25 years old and at least
21 years older than the adoptive child. -
Marriage: Both married and single persons may adopt. Single males must adopt male children.

Children 18 months to age 15 are available.

Special needs children and sibling groups are available.

Couples may adopt two unrelated children at one time. (See fee sheet for details.)
Waiting Time for a Referral

The wait time for referral is 6 to 12 months.

The wait time from referral to court date is 6 to 12 months. (Weight times can vary as courts in foreign lands are unpredictable.)
