Who Can Adopt

Singles may adopt. Wait is much longer.

Preference for married couples—married at least 3 years.

Applicants must be minimum of 25 years old and no more then 45 years older than child desired. Must be able to pass a psychological screening.

There is no preference provided to Ecuadorian heritage.
Children Available

Children available to the USA are ages 8–15.

Many sibling groups of 3 or more children, ages 2–17.

Many special needs children (ages 2 and up): cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy.

There is no shorter wait time or preference given to Ecuadorian heritage.
Waiting Time for a Referral
Time frames for international adoption are never certain. We have seen a significant
slow down with referrals. The time frames listed are based on typical experience of
dossier to referral time:

Children ages 8–15: 9–12 months

Children with special needs: 6–12 months
Travel

The average stay for prospective adoptive parents in Ecuador is 8 weeks.

Both parents are required to travel but one parent may return home after court which is typically 30 days after arrival.
Program Fees
Intake fee: $250
Program fee: $16,000 – 50% with dossier/50% with referral
In-country expenses: $2,195 when I-800 form is submitted + travel/food/lodging
